March 1, 2016

The latest to our lineup of custom goodies is Custom Butcher Paper, and we're so excited to try it on all kinds of packaging. You can use it to label, wrap or pad your products in a way that’s more personal, low-impact, and good for the big ol’ Earth. To get your wheels turning, here are some pretty and practical ways to use butcher paper in your packaging.

This roundup includes inspiration from some of our favorite companies and designers around the web. Unless specified, these designs are not made by Lumi.

Protect your breakables

Keep cracks and scuffs to a minimum by wrapping your custom kraft around breakable goods that you’re packing or shipping. It’s an extra branded surprise when people open their package.

Top your jars

For preserves, salts and bath goods, a swatch of kraft with tie and a tag is just the extra touch of love your sealed packaging could use. With a funky design like this skull illustration, it’s a more edgy take on grandma’s jams.

Make your own packets

We’d love to sew up some kraft paper to make envelopes for product accessories like extra buttons or back-up shoelaces. This pouch concept from designer Samantha Wittwer would also be fun for branded freebies — just keep in mind that our kraft isn’t food safe, so make sure if you that your food products are sealed in something like a zip bag before your wrap them in kraft.

Wrap your boxes

Your in-house wrapping doesn’t have to be seasonal and it doesn’t have to be dainty. Don’t be afraid to go big and bold with your pattern. This design from French Paper uses the kraft color as an accent to the black, blocky, halftone pattern around their boxes.

Bunch it Around Bottles

Your design can be product specific with a repeating pattern to compliment whatever you’re bottling. Cinch it at the neck with twine or ribbon to keep it in place, and add custom masking tape or a wax seal to close up the sides.
