Clay-Coated News Back

Recycled paperboard with a semi-gloss white clay coating on the top and grey back.
Also known as
Coated Recycled Board (CRB)

What is Clay-Coated News Back?

Among paperboard, CCNB has one of the higher percentages of recycled material. It is commonly used for cereal boxes. The clay coating creates a smooth surface for a crisp print on the top of the board, and the back is a lighter grey color made from recycled newsprint. If you prefer the natural kraft brown color, SUS is a good option. It’s clay coated on one side, with a natural kraft back.

For an option that is white on both sides, look into SBS. Both SUS and SBS are made of a higher percentage of virgin material, so you compromise the percentage of recycled content.

Why choose it?

  • Coating is smooth, bright white with a slight sheen.

  • On the coated side, printed colors appear more vibrant and design details appear more crisp.

  • Made from recycled content (up to 90%)

Why not choose it?

  • Only white on one side, unlike SBS

  • Not as strong as SUS
