When companies order a piece of custom packaging for the first time, it can be hard to know all the specs and structural details required for their design. Now, suppliers can help bring those specs to the finish line.
These new filters will reduce the time you spend sifting through quotes, and help you find the best-fit faster:
Your quote request will only go out to specific suppliers you select and suppliers that meet all your advanced filter criteria. You'll find these new Advanced Filters in the Suppliers section of quote requests.
💡 Tip: As you add more filters, the supplier count in the top right of the quote request page will change.
When you click on a fulfillment, you can now click "Proof of Delivery" to see the uploaded document.
Child resistant metal tins are a new addition to the Child Resistant category. They can be a plastic-free option for packaging products like cannabis that require extra protection. There are options for completely plastic-free tins, or plastic lined tins that create an airtight seal.
The child resistant mechanism works with embossed dots on the lid and base. When aligned, these dots lock the container. To open the container, the customer needs to squeeze the base of the tin, then twist the top to release the lock and lift the lid.
Child resistant metal tins are cylindrical with options for printing, labeling, or embossing.
Compostable Stand Up Pouches and Compostable Zip Top Bags are the latest additions to the compostable plastic lineup.
Like all materials, compostable plastic has its pros and cons. There are various types of compostable plastic. What most of them have in common is a greater reliance on plant-based sources instead of fossil fuels. But not all compostable plastic is 100% plastic-free.
When compared to paper, compostable plastic (like traditional plastic) is water resistant and has more stretch and flexibility.
But if you're looking for more sustainable disposal options, not all compostable plastics will be a perfect fit. Many compostable plastics are only certified for industrial composting, not home composting. (Ask your supplier for compostability certifications to understand your options.)
If you have questions about compostable plastic check out our Compostable Plastic FAQs.
There are new filters in the supplier platform that make it easier to find the information you need. On the Quotes, Orders, and Billing views, you can filter by Clients, Locations, Products, dates, and more.

In addition to photos of factories and work samples, now suppliers can add a video to their profile pages. Video is a great way to start building trust through transparency, right from the start. Suppliers can use video to add a factory tour or a reel of spotlight samples. Adding a profile video is simple. Just copy and paste a link of an existing video in the Photos and video section of the Profile Manager.
Reorders don’t require new proofs: Reorders no longer require a new proof to be approved, as long as the order is placed with the same facility location as the initial order. When a customer reorders an item with a valid quote, you’ll receive the order with the initial proof already attached. When you click to accept the order, you’re agreeing to move forward with the production, and an invoice will automatically be sent to the customer.
Completed orders close automatically: Orders will close automatically after you mark all items on an order as fulfilled and the items are marked as delivered or picked up by you or the customer.
Editing quotes: Now, quotes can be edited if they're a Draft, Open, or Submitted. Expiration dates on quotes are also editable after they’ve been submitted or ordered.
Sort by manufacturing location in orders view: With the new “Manufacturing Location” column, you can easily sort your Orders view by facility. To sort by a column, click on the column header name.
No more signatures on messages: When you reply to a message thread via email, you'll no longer see email signatures when you view that message thread in the platform.
Injection Molded Parts are now available from suppliers on Lumi and they can be made into nearly any form, shape, or size. Injection molding is a process that's used to make all kinds of products, from plastic furniture and toys to parts for appliances and hardware. In packaging, injection molding is most commonly used to make containers like bottles, jars, and tubs. There are stock color options, and custom colors are available at high volumes.
While there are several material options for injection molded parts, what they all have in common is that they’re thermoplastics. Thermoplastics are plastics that melt when they’re heated. To make injection molded parts, plastic pellets are heated and injected into molds. Then the items are cooled and pushed out of the molds.
Your supplier can help you choose the best type of plastic for your application based on your design and desired performance. In addition to your aesthetic preferences, they'll need to know if the item needs to be food safe, UV resistant, chemical resistant, or have other protective qualities like resistance to extremely hot or cold temperatures.
