Die Cutting

The process of using cutting dies to cut and score custom shapes in various materials.

What is die cutting?

Anything beyond the most basic and standardized structures use die cutting. The downside of die cutting is the cost, as it requires a cutting die, which can range in price depending on the product and material.

Why choose it?

  • Cutting custom shapes, with rounded details

  • For corrugated, any customizations to slotted containers, such as hand holes, require at least partial die cutting.

Why not choose it?

  • Designs requiring die cutting tend to have much higher material waste

  • For corrugated, it is more expensive than slotted options (tooling, setup, and run speeds)
