Tyvek®

HDPE fibers flashspun into a lightweight but strong material. Water resistant and rip proof.

What is Tyvek®?

Tyvek is a water resistant alternative to paper and it stands out with its paper-like appearance, but this texture can be misleading. Tyvek is made from a 100% virgin plastic. Tyvek cannot be recycled in the standard plastic stream. It has to be sent back to Dupont, the material manufacturer. If sustainability is a priority, choose a material that is curbside recyclable, like kraft paper.

Why choose it?

  • Lightweight

  • Tear proof

  • Water resistant

  • Unique texture

Why not choose it?

  • No recycled content, made from 100% virgin plastic

  • The papery feel of this plastic material can lead to consumers incorrectly recycling, sending it to the paper recycling stream.

  • Not easily recyclable: only recyclable by mailing to the material manufacturer, Dupont.
