PE foam

Flexible, closed cell foam with a plastic spongey feel
Also known as
Polyethylene Foam, LDPE foam

What is PE foam?

Polyethylene foam is a closed cell foam that has a plastic spongey feel with medium give and bounceback. It's typically used for positioning and cushioning. Custom inserts, are made from extruded planks or laminated sheets. It's made in a variety of colors and densities, and recycled PE is available.

PE foam is non-absorbent so it's resistant to moisture, making it an ideal option for adding shock absorption around cold beverages that may require ice packs that will give off condensation. It's durable and it's good at impact absorption and vibration dampening. It has low compression creep, which means that it will return to its original shape after continuous loading.

Why choose it?

  • Resistant to moisture, mold, and mildew
  • High resistance to chemicals and solvents
  • High resistance to heat
  • Lightweight
  • Low compression creep
  • Fairly non-abrasive

Why not choose it?

  • Susceptible to degradation from continuous exposure to UV rays
