High Density Polyethylene

Common soft, flexible thermoplastic

What is High Density Polyethylene?

High density polyethylene (HDPE) is known for its chemical resistance and low cost. It's a strong, stiff plastic. One of its more universal applications is milk bottles.

It's a thermoplastic which means it melts when heated to a certain temperature. This makes it a viable option for injection molding.

Why choose it?

  • Relatively low cost
  • Non-toxic
  • Water resistant
  • Stronger with higher heat resistance than LDPE

Why not choose it?

    • Higher risk of shrinking when injection molded
    • Low UV resistance
    • Derived from fossil fuels
