An item is similar to a SKU (stock keeping unit). It's a single component, with the specifications and instructions a supplier needs to manufacture it — such as dimensions, materials, printing options, and production-ready files. Items make it easy to manage specifications and create orders without having to reenter information.
The more complete and accurate your specifications are, the more accurate your quotes will be. Once you've created an item, you can request quotes for it from suppliers on Lumi.

To create an item go to your Items view and click the Add new item button.
Alternatively, you can browse the product catalog or explore inspiration images to find the type of product you want and click the Create item button.
Tip: You can save an Item as a draft at any point, but before you can request a quote for an item, you have to enter all required specs.
Product: Refer to the Product Catalog for category names
Item name: What you'll call this item e.g. "2-bottle box" or "Holiday 2020 promo card"
SKU (optional): Your internal identifier or part number for this item
External IDs (optional): Optional IDs used to link the item to other systems for integrations/syncing such as inventory management
Image (optional): A dieline, 3D rendering, or photo, to visually recognize it in your dashboard
Specs are the essential details that help ensure your product will be made according to your expectations.
When specifications are blank, you may leave the supplier to make an assumption or make a decision on your behalf. This could lead to miscommunication, and a final product that doesn't match your intention. The more specifications you include, the more accurate your quote and final product will be.
